Symptoms:

The most common symptom of plantar fasciitis is pain and stiffness in the heel or bottom of the foot which most commonly occurs when taking the first few steps in the morning or after sitting for a long period of time. The heel pain may be dull or sharp.

Less pain or stiffness may be felt after taking a few steps. The foot may hurt more as the day goes on and may hurt the most when climbing stairs or after standing for a long period of time.

Plantar Fasciitis can last for a month or more, even up to one or two years.

Cause:

Plantar fasciitis is caused when the ligament that supports the arch of the foot becomes strained. Repeated strain can cause small tears in the ligament which leads to pain and swelling. This is most likely to happen if walking, running or standing for long periods of time, especially on hard surfaces.

People who are most susceptible to getting Plantar Fasciitis are those who are long distance runners, wear footwear with little arch support or soft soles, or have flat fee or high arches. It can also be caused by sudden weight gain or obesity.

Treatment:

Pain-reducing medications, massage and chiropractic adjustments are common treatments for back pain. At Power Massage, we use a form of neuro-muscular reeducation and by working with our clients, together we can achieve immediate results that have been unavailable before. We do this by reducing muscle inflammation and elongating the muscles which gives us the results your looking for.

Not all massage is the same. The neuro-muscular technique used by our staff of professional therapists has been very effective for many of our patients. Here is what Kristina has to say:

“ In October of 2004, I dislocated my hip during training. After several dead ends with orthopedic doctors who said that my potential for a full recovery was unlikely, I met Bob early in 2005. Bob’s specific massage technique got my hip back to 100%; so much so that I have difficulty remembering which hip was injured! Power Massage offers benefits far beyond recovery from injuries. In order for my body to function at its best, I knew it was appropriate and necessary to continue working with Bob, and I’ve done so from 2005 up to today. Bob’s work is for everyone – from the average person to professional athletes. There isn’t a person out there who wouldn’t benefit from Power Massage. I would recommend Bob to anyone.”
