Symptoms:

The most common symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome are numbness, weakness, tingling or pain felt in the fingers or the palm of the hand. Symptoms can occur in both hands, but are usually worse in one hand or the other. People with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome often notice symptoms at night, waking with pain or numbness. Other symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome include numbness or pain that gets worse while gripping an object or flexing the wrist and/or loss of pinch strength between the thumb and index finger. These symptoms occur more frequently in women that in men.

Causes:

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is caused by pressure on the median nerve in your wrist. The median nerve runs from your forearm to your hand through a small space in your wrist called the Carpal Tunnel. The median nerve is quite narrow and if the nerve us pinched you can experience pain, tingling or numbness. This nerve controls movement and feeling in the thumb and the first three fingers.

Conditions that can lead to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome include:

  • Arthritis
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Wrist injuries
  • Repetitive movement of the wrists such as tying on a keyboard, doing assembly work on a production line, cleaning windows, painting, some sports that required wrist movement, needlework, and other activities in which the use of the wrist is continuously involved.

Treatments:

There are many medications available for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, some taking orally and others injected. And, as a last resort, surgery has also been used.

At Power Massage, we use a form of neuro-muscular reeducation and by working with our clients, together we can achieve immediate results that have been unavailable before. We do this by reducing muscle inflammation and elongating the muscles which gives us the results your looking for. Here is what Shirely said:

After a near death illness that necessitated use of muscle destroying drugs to save his life, my husband was getting deep tissue massages from Bob Beedle. I was not the least bit interested in doing this, as I was sure it would be painful and I didn’t need it.

One week when I was in a world of hurt with my back and my chiropractor was out of town, my husband suggested I try the massage. I cannot tell you what a difference this made for me!

Did it hurt? Yes, some, because I was so full of knots and tension.

From that time forward, I have had Bob work on me on a regular basis. And, I must admit, when I miss my turn, I can sure tell! After a three day cross country drive and a week of bending over my computer to finish year-end reports, I was so tight and achy; I couldn’t wait to get to Bob! Not only does he help with the massages, he gives me tips on how to be healthier (more water, more water, more water!), how to approach different projects to lessen the strain on my body and how to laugh and appreciate how wonderfully made our bodies are. Power Massage is now a regular part of my life and I highly recommend it to everyone!
